La Rambla, the historic cradle of master pitcher-makers
In La Rambla, clay has built an entire culture. The date most often cited by local chroniclers is 1460, when the first document mentioning a village pitcher-maker appears; by the 16th century there was already a Street of the Pitcher-Makers. From then on, the craft grew steadily until La Rambla became the great pottery centre of the province and a national reference. That memory — from the water pitcher to artistic earthenware — is now organised around the Ceramic Museum, next to the tower of the old castle, and heritage spaces such as the Naves de la Cerámica, which host fairs, exhibitions and community life.
