SUMMARY:“Alma de Cántaro” Exhibition – Mota del Cuervo in Alcalá de Henares
DESCRIPTION:The exhibition “Alma de Cántaro” will remain open until 21/09/2025 at the Casa Natal de Cervantes Museum in Alcalá de Henares. Curated by Leopoldo Casero\, a native of Mota del Cuervo\, the exhibition brings together pieces\, photographs and unpublished documents that recover the history and soul of the pottery craft of Mota del Cuervo\, a tradition with centuries of history. \nThe exhibition is organised into three sections\, one of them dedicated especially to the potters’ quarter of Mota del Cuervo\, where intense pottery activity developed over generations. This section displays photographs never before shown\, loaned by families who had preserved them in their private collections. \n“Alma de Cántaro” not only highlights the craft of pottery\, but also the essential role of the women who worked the clay day after day\, contributing to family livelihoods and to the artisanal identity of the town. \nThe project has the collaboration of various individuals and institutions who have loaned pieces and photographic material. The Casa Natal de Cervantes Museum\, owned by the Community of Madrid\, receives around 12\,000 visitors per month\, so it is expected that close to 70\,000 people will visit the exhibition during its run.

SUMMARY:International Fair–Competition of Artistic Ceramics
DESCRIPTION:Bailén is synonymous with pottery land. Working with clay has been part of the essence of this municipality since time immemorial. \nSince 2016\, the municipality has organised an International Fair–Competition of decorative ceramics\, CERAMIBA\, with the aim of giving visibility to and strengthening a craft that is under threat of disappearing in the 21st century. Over these four editions\, the city has experienced a true economic\, professional and cultural blossoming\, which has set a precedent and helped to boost the ceramic sector. \nWith more than 1\,500 visitors from both national and international backgrounds\, Bailén has become a reference point and capital of ceramic craftsmanship\, a reality that calls for the programming of a fifth edition to continue promoting this millenary activity.

SUMMARY:72nd Festa del Càntir – Argentona 2022
DESCRIPTION:The Festa del Càntir of Argentona\, revived in 1951\, is held every year on the morning of 4 August\, coinciding with the feast of Sant Domènec. During the day\, the most traditional events take place: the renewal of the vot de poble by the mayor\, the blessing of the waters of the Font de Sant Domènec\, the blessing and sale of the “càntir de l’any”\, and the classic strength and ingenuity games related to water and the pitcher. \nIn the 2022 edition\, the author of the càntir de l’any was Carme Pinós\, an internationally recognised architect and designer\, who also became the first woman entrusted with the design since the start of the càntirs d’autor series of the Museu del Càntir (2017). Her proposal combines functionality and elegance\, made with red clay and contrasting white finishes. \nThe design and production process was coordinated by Quim Larrea\, with moulds by José Luís Osuna and production by José Antonio Gómez\, a ceramist from Caldes de Montbui. A total of 3\,000 numbered units were produced\, available for €25 at the Museu del Càntir and during the festival at the sales point next to the Font de Sant Domènec. \nProgramme highlights for 4 August: \n07:00: Preparation and blessing of the càntirs at the Font de Sant Domènec. \n10:00: Opening of the Museu del Càntir and exhibitions. \n10:30 (Plaça de Vendre): Children’s games around the càntir (Gran Xarbotada). \nAt the end of the “Vot de Poble” (Font de Sant Domènec): Blessing and sale of the càntirs of the year. \n12:00 (Plaça de Vendre): Càntir-lifting competition (from 10 to 200 kg) with cash prizes and trophies. \n13:00 (Plaça Nova): Presentation of the Giant Artist Càntir with the authors Gemma Armengol and Igor Garai. \nThe festival is held with the collaboration of the Amics del Museu del Càntir\, the wood-fired bakery Forn de llenya Can Moré\, and the sponsorship of various local companies.

SUMMARY:Ceràmica Viva (6th edition) – Associació de Ceramistes de la Bisbal
DESCRIPTION:The collective exhibition “Ceràmica Viva (6th edition)” was held from 08/04/2022 to 26/01/2024 in the “Current Affairs” space of La Bisbal d’Empordà\, and was organised by the Associació de Ceramistes de la Bisbal in collaboration with the local museum. \nThis exhibition is part of the 2022–2023 season and is located at the end of the permanent space “The Creators”. It showcased the works of more than thirty ceramists\, displaying the richness and diversity of contemporary ceramics from La Bisbal. \nThe exhibition stood out for its wide range of techniques and styles: clay\, glazes\, porcelain\, stoneware\, utilitarian ceramics\, architectural ceramics\, pieces for gardening\, craftsmanship\, design\, km 0 industry and experimental firing processes. \nLa Bisbal d’Empordà is a historical reference in ceramic production\, with documents already mentioning the craft in the town as early as 1502. The abundance of clay\, water and fuel\, together with a favourable environment\, consolidated its ceramic identity over the centuries. Today\, “Ceràmica Viva” continues this tradition by promoting contemporary creation and the dissemination of the craft.
