ARTERRA, a new brand seeking to bring together tourism and ceramics in Talavera de la Reina
Talavera de la Reina – This Monday, the Tourism and Crafts Councillor, Gelen Delgado, and Fernando Portela, coordinator of the CeramiTUR project, visited the radio program Hoy por Hoy Talavera. They had just returned from Catalonia, where they took part in the closing sessions of the CeramiTUR event held in the municipality of La Bisbal d’Empordà.
This meeting marks the end of several months of work in which ceramics have been enhanced as a structured, accessible, digital, and high-quality tourism product, capable of attracting both national and international visitors and generating new opportunities for local development.
We spoke with Delgado and Portela about these months during which the project has given different groups and age ranges the opportunity to experience first-hand the process of creating and producing this material, a hallmark of our city’s identity.
People with different types of disabilities, women who are victims of gender-based violence, and users of the psychiatry unit and the UCA of Talavera have taken part in workshops and guided tours in recent months. An opportunity for learning, but also for accessible leisure.
Following the end of European funding, a new brand now emerges: ARTERRA, which aims to continue this initiative and, over the coming months, include more workshops and even a national pottery competition.
