Yesterday and today, September 17 and 18, the Terracotta Museu of La Bisbal d\u2019Empord\u00e0 is hosting the closing sessions of the project \u201cCeramitur: live, experience, and be moved by ceramic tourism destinations,\u201d a joint initiative promoted by the Spanish Association of Ceramic Cities (AeCC) with the collaboration of nine municipalities across the Iberian Peninsula: Agost, Alba de Tormes, Bail\u00e9n, La Bisbal d\u2019Empord\u00e0, La Rambla, Manises, Mota del Cuervo, Onda, and Talavera de la Reina. All actions carried out within the framework of this initiative fall under the objectives of Spain\u2019s Tourism Modernization and Sustainability Plan, incorporating environmental and social responsibility criteria.<\/p>\n
During the sessions, representatives of the participating municipalities and members of the AeCC management team are able to present and assess the results achieved, as well as define future strategic lines to promote tourism linked to the ceramic industry. In addition to the working sessions, which take place in the mornings, representatives of the nine municipalities also have the opportunity to learn first-hand about the reality of the ceramic sector in La Bisbal through visits to factories and workshops in the city.<\/p>\n
The Ceramitur project aims to position ceramics as a unique tourism experience through innovative actions that increase its visibility and sustainability. Funded by Next Generation EU European funds through the Innova line of Experiencias Turismo Espa\u00f1a of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, managed by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism, the project places special emphasis on creating collaboration networks and exchanging experiences among the various stakeholders involved. It also promotes the development of tourism narratives centered on the visitor\u2019s direct experience.<\/p>\n
The total budget of the project amounts to \u20ac599,520, of which \u20ac59,000 has been allocated to La Bisbal d\u2019Empord\u00e0. One of the most notable actions in the city will be the installation of a self-consumption photovoltaic solar panel system on the roofs of the Terracotta Museu, an initiative that will improve the facility\u2019s energy sustainability, reduce its ecological footprint, and consolidate it as a cultural and tourism benchmark for the city.<\/p>\n
In addition, the project also promotes social inclusion and cultural and tourism accessibility for all groups. Thanks to the funding obtained, open and inclusive educational and learning workshops will be designed, aimed at all sectors of society. To carry out these activities, the museum\u2019s educational classroom will be equipped with specialized materials, and the acquisition of two ceramic kilns\u2014essential for the development of these educational actions\u2014will be financed.<\/p>\n
The Tourism Councillor of La Bisbal d\u2019Empord\u00e0 City Council, Xavier Dilm\u00e9, highlighted the importance of both the Ceramitur project and what it represents for collaboration among ceramic-producing municipalities: \u201cwe are a group of cities that share a common tradition and want to enhance the value of ceramics, turning them into an attraction for the economic development of our municipalities.\u201d According to Dilm\u00e9, \u201cthis project allows us to strengthen ties among ourselves and establish a shared circuit of offerings for visitors.
