Inauguration of a New Ceramic Tourist Route: The Walk of Letters

As part of the celebrations marking the sixth anniversary of the declaration of the ceramic-making techniques of Talavera de la Reina as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, a new tourist route has been inaugurated that brings together ceramics, craftsmanship, and literature.

The new route will be called “The Walk of Letters” and pays tribute to the writers who praised Talavera de la Reina in their works. The Walk of Letters will feature fifteen murals created by all the workshops and potteries of the City of Ceramics, allowing visitors to appreciate the different techniques and styles of its artisans.

This new tourist route joins others that are already well established, such as the route of the large ceramic murals or La Celestina route, in honor of its author, Fernando de Rojas.

At the end of this year, the first three murals have been inaugurated, dedicated to Carmen Laforet (Cerámica Nicolás Varas Díaz), Father Juan de Mariana (Cerámica Artística San Ginés), and Camilo José Cela (Alfar El Carmen).

From the City Council of Talavera de la Reina, we reaffirm our commitment to the preservation, transmission, and promotion of our ceramic heritage, involving the artisan community, the cultural sector, and the public at large.
