The Spanish Association of Ceramic Cities (AeCC) is promoting a new edition of Hola Cerámica 2026 from 7 to 12 April, an initiative designed to open ceramics up to a wide audience through workshops, open days, guided tours, exhibitions, demonstrations and educational activities. The event is part of the calendar of the European Days of Crafts, which take place on those same dates in different European countries.

This edition will feature 64 in-person activities in 18 municipalities, confirming the territorial reach of a proposal that once again highlights both traditional ceramics and its contemporary interpretations. The programme brings together initiatives in Alba de Tormes, Argentona, Arroyo de la Luz, Bailén, Barcelona, Bollullos de la Mitación, Breda, Esplugues de Llobregat, Gelves, La Bisbal d’Empordà, La Galera, La Rambla, Manises, Muel, Onda, Portillo, Seville and Talavera de la Reina.

Hola Cerámica was born as a promotional initiative to open workshops, museums and other ceramic-related spaces to the public, showcase their work and strengthen the bond between citizens and a craft that forms part of the cultural, economic and social heritage of many Spanish municipalities. The AeCC itself, which brings together cities historically linked to ceramics, works precisely to protect this heritage, support the development of the artisan sector and promote cultural tourism connected to this tradition.

The 2026 programme once again reflects this diversity. There are proposals focused on traditional pottery, such as open days in workshops and museums; introductory and participatory activities, with workshops for children and adult audiences; routes linked to local ceramic heritage; and also content connecting ceramics with current debates on training, creativity, innovation or protection of origin.

In Gelves, for example, a series of sessions will be held on Protected Geographical Indications in the artisan ceramics sector (9 April, 10:00 a.m.), an area of work that the AeCC has already been addressing in its recent technical meetings.

Its coincidence with the European Days of Crafts also places Hola Cerámica within a broader framework for promoting the crafts sector. In Spain, the European Days of Crafts are promoted by Fundesarte, the craft promotion area of the School of Industrial Organization (EOI), in collaboration with the Spanish Organization of Craftspeople, Oficio y Arte, and the European Crafts Alliance. Their aim is to bring the processes, knowledge and values of craft trades closer to the public through open, free activities held throughout the country.

The international dimension also accompanies this edition. The AeCC maintains cooperation links with other European associations of ceramic cities, and in Italy the AiCC will once again hold a new edition of Buongiorno Ceramica in 2026, its major annual event for the promotion of ceramics.

With this new edition, Hola Cerámica reinforces its role as one of the leading initiatives for the promotion of ceramics in Spain, combining heritage, live demonstration, public participation and knowledge of the craft in a week that will once again make ceramics the protagonist.
